Landers draws Wheaton's first weekly accolade since 2006 seasonApril 28, 2008
Landers' 11-point week led Wheaton to a 2-0 mark in Pilgrim play and helped the Lyons clinch the second seed in the upcoming tournament. He scored three goals against Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), including the game-winner, while assisting three others in a 14-6 victory on Wednesday. Landers also notched the game-winning tally during Wheaton's 11-7 triumph over Babson College on Saturday, as he posted three goals and a pair of assists. Landers' second hat trick was comprised of one man-up, man-down and even-strength goal each. With a team-high 26 goals, Landers has recorded the most markers by a Wheaton freshman since 1996. He also paces the Lyons with 36 points and has scored on 49.1 percent of his shots. Landers has a team-high three game-winning goals and is tied for the squad lead with a trio of man-up tallies. His 34 ground balls are the most among Wheaton's attackmen. After being predicted to finish fourth in the league by Inside Lacrosse, Wheaton ended the regular season 7-8 overall and 5-2 in the conference, tying for second in the Pilgrim for its best league showing in 10 years. As the second seed in the conference tournament, Wheaton will again host Babson, the number-three seed, on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. for its first home Pilgrim Tournament contest since 1998.
