The Lyons are 4-8 overall and tied for third in the conference at 4-2, while the Buccaneers fell to 3-7 and 1-5. Barbone put the hosts on top with a marker 3:33 into the contest, but the visitors responded with the next three goals during a low-scoring opening half. Freshman Brian Burke (Del Mar, CA/Avon Old Farms) tallied on the man advantage with 4:26 left in the first before senior Sean Flanigan (Sandwich, MA/Sandwich) and junior Bryan Sears (Scituate, MA/Boston College) scored 3:24 apart toward the end of the half. Junior Richie Rasamny (Redding, CT/Joel Barlow) brought the Lyons within 3-2 with 51 seconds remaining before halftime. Barbone knotted the game at 11:48 of the third quarter, but freshman Matt Fisher (Falmouth, MA/Falmouth) responded for Massachusetts Maritime at 9:40. From there, Wheaton's offense took over, as the Lyons scored 10 of the game's final 11 goals, including the five immediately following Fisher's tally. Sophomore Jeff Gomer (Duxbury, MA/Duxbury) tied the game 42 seconds after the Buccaneers had taken the lead, and Barbone scored with a man up just 17 ticks later to put Wheaton on top for good. The Lyons took a 7-4 lead into the fourth quarter before Barbone sent another man-up goal into the net after 55 seconds. Freshman Ed Klodarska (Media, PA/Penncrest) put another Massachusetts Maritime marker on the board at 13:46 to make it 8-5, but Wheaton finished the game on a 5-0 run, which senior Markus Ricci (Wayland, MA/Wayland) started with a natural hat trick during a 5:27 span. Barbone tacked on an assist to finish with six points, while Ricci finished with his third hat trick of the season and a helper. Freshman Drew Schaffer (New Haven, CT/Loomis Chaffee School) added two goals, Rasamny had a marker and three assists, while freshman Tim Horan (Cheshire, CT/Cheshire) contributed a trio of helpers.
