Visiting Wheaton battles Bantams before Trinity triumphs, 15-4

March 28, 2007

HARTFORD, CT- The Wheaton College men's lacrosse team saw a one-goal deficit five minutes into the second quarter turn into a large Trinity College lead, as the host Bantams blanked the Lyons in the middle two periods during a 15-4 Trinity victory on Wednesday at Jessee/Miller Field. Wheaton fell to 0-5, while the Bantams improved to 4-1.

Junior Jeremy Ulan (Scarsdale, NY/Scardale) tallied Trinity's first two goals, but Wheaton senior Markus Ricci (Wayland, MA/Wayland) found the back of the net with 6:59 remaining in the opening period to make it 2-1. The Lyons held the Bantams scoreless for a stretch of 18:40 before Trinity broke the game open, scoring with 9:50 left in the first half to begin a stretch of 12 consecutive goals during a 25:59 span. Following Ricci's goal, the hosts kept Wheaton off the scoreboard again until 7:12 remained in the fourth quarter.

In the final period, junior Richie Rasamny (Redding, CT/Joel Barlow) and freshmen Tim Horan (Cheshire, CT/Cheshire) and Conor Whitney (West Hartford, CT/Kingswood-Oxford School) each scored during a 7:03 span in Wheaton's most productive offensive stanza.

Horan finished with the goal and two assists, while Ricci had a goal and a helper. Freshman starter Schuyler Horn (New Hartford, CT/Kingswood-Oxford School) made six stops between the pipes before junior Jeremy Beech (West Newbury, MA/Governor Dummer Academy) recorded six saves in relief.

For Trinity, senior Chris Walsh (Newton, MA/Newton North) and junior Kris Tedeschi (Norwell, MA/Norwell) each recorded a hat trick, while sophomore Alex Palma (Chappaqua, NY/Horace Greeley) turned aside four shots.

The Lyons open Pilgrim League play looking for their first win of the season on Saturday at Clark University at 1:00 p.m. Eight of Wheaton's final nine regular season games are against conference competition.
