Jackson earns men's lacrosse national scholar-athlete honor

June 2, 2006

NORTON, MA- Wheaton College senior men's lacrosse standout Taylor Jackson (Middlesex, VT/Union 32) was among 46 players from around the nation across the NCAA's three divisions to earn United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Scholar All-America status. Jackson was one of 24 Division III athletes named to the squad.

Jackson, who graduated last month with dual degrees in physics and Spanish, earned Pilgrim League All-Conference and Academic All-Conference honors in each his junior and senior years. He was also recently named to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) All-New England second team and invited to compete in the NEILA East-West Senior All-Star Game tonight at Tufts University.

A two-year captain, Jackson started all 17 games for the Lyons, recording career highs of 31 goals and 39 points. Wheaton went 9-7-1 and advanced to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournament championship game for the first time. After going 6-2 in the Pilgrim League, the Lyons qualified for their first Pilgrim League Tournament since 1998.
