Reavey reaches 100th point, leads four with hat tricks in Wheaton's winApril 26, 2006 NORTON, MA- Senior Ellis Reavey (Longmeadow, MA/Longmeadow) recorded seven points, including the 100th of his college career, as Wheaton College defeated Clark University with its second straight 23-2 Pilgrim League men's lacrosse victory on Wednesday at Mirrione Stadium. The Lyons, who are now 8-5-1 overall and 6-2 in league play, rattled off five straight victories in the same season for the first time since 1996. Clark fell to 7-7 and 1-6. With the regular season complete, the Lyons prepare for their Pilgrim League Tournament semifinal contest next Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. in Springfield against an opponent to be determined. As the third seed in a four-team field, Wheaton will be making its first conference tournament appearance since 1998 and faces the second seed, which will be either Springfield-based Western New England College or Springfield College. Wheaton earned a comfortable edge early, scoring on its first four shots during the first 2:33 of action. Senior Taylor Jackson (Middlesex, VT/Union 32) had a goal and an assist during that time. After Reavey's second goal put the Lyons up, 5-0 just 27 seconds into the second quarter, the hosts slowed down the tempo. Senior Devon Kinnard (Chester, NJ/Newark Academy) put Clark on the board at 8:39 before the Blue and White completed the half with six goals in the final 5:03, including two apiece by senior Adam Cohen (Montpelier, VT/Montpelier) and junior Markus Ricci (Wayland, MA/Wayland). The Lyons took an 11-1 advantage into halftime. Jackson tallied two more goals and Reavey tacked on a marker during the first 4:33 of the second half to expand upon Wheaton's lead before Kinnard netted his second goal at 9:35 to make it 14-2. From there, the hosts recorded the final nine tallies. Reavey reached the 100-point plateau on a goal at 9:46 of the final quarter. Reavey recorded six goals, while Cohen and Jackson each notched four tallies and two helpers. Ricci finished with four goals, and sophomore Josh Daub (Coral Springs, FL/Saint Andrew's School) added a goal and two assists. Junior Andrew Rohan (South Hadley, MA/Avon Old Farms) added two assists. Sophomore Jeremy Beech (West Newbury, MA/Governor Dummer Academy) went untested during one half in net, while junior Tristan Colglazier (Lutherville, MD/Saint Paul's School) stopped one shot in the second half. Kinnard scored both of Clark's goals, while freshmen Brad Bell (Belchertown, MA/Amherst) and Tyler Campbell (Portland, OR/Lincoln) combined for 10 saves.
