Lyons come up short at Colby in men's lacrosse actionMarch 19, 2006 WATERVILLE, ME- Wheaton College received goals from three players but fell, 9-4 at Colby College in non-conference men's lacrosse action Sunday at Bill Alfond Field. The Lyons are now 1-3, while the Mules improved to 1-1 in their home opener. Wheaton trailed by 3-0 and 4-1 counts after the first and second periods, respectively, before pulling within 5-3 at the end of the third stanza. However, the Mules tallied twice in a 1:22 span to go up by four early in the final quarter, and the Lyons never came closer than three goals the rest of the way. The Lyons were narrowly outshot, 24-23, while sophomore Jeremy Beech (West Newbury, MA/Governor Dummer Academy) made 13 saves. Junior Andrew Rohan (South Hadley, MA/Avon Old Farms) paced the Blue and White with a pair of goals, while senior Adam Cohen (Montpelier, VT/Montpelier) and junior Trey Helms (Cockeysville, MD/Saint Paul's School) turned in a goal and an assist apiece. Sophomore Richie Rasamny (Redding, CT/Joel Barlow) added a helper. A trio of Mules netted two goals each, while sophomore Luis Mendoza (Washington, DC/Brooks School) and freshman Caddy Brooks (Darien, CT/Salisbury School) recorded three points each. Senior Jeff Miller (Marshfield, MA/Phillips Exeter Academy) stopped 10 shots in net.
