Wheaton suffers 10-5 non-conference setback to GordonMarch 15, 2006 WENHAM, MA- The Wheaton College men's lacrosse team suffered its second straight loss Wednesday afternoon, as the Lyons dropped a 10-5 non-conference contest to Gordon College in the debut of Brigham Complex. Wheaton is now 0-2 overall while the Fighting Scots are 3-1. Trailing 4-2 at the half, the Blue and White was outscored 6-3 in the second stanza. Senior attack Adam Cohen (Montpelier, VT/Montpelier) paced the visitors with two goals and one assist, while classmate Ellis Reavey (Longmeadow, MA/Longmeadow), junior Andrew Rohan (South Hadley, MA/Avon Old Farms) and sophomore Richie Rasamny (Redding, CT/Joel Barlow) rounded out the scoring. Senior Taylor Jackson (Middlesex, VT/Union 32) and junior Larry Nussbaum (Glastonbury, CT/Avon Old Farms) posted an assist apiece, while sophomore goalkeeper Jeremy Beech (West Newbury, MA/Governor Dummer Academy) registered nine saves. Wheaton won 12 of 17 face-offs and was 1-for-3 in man-up opportunities while holding Gordon scoreless in its man-up chances. Junior Michael Neumann (Fallston, MD) led the Fighting Scots with a game-best three tallies and freshman Matt Mercer (Salisbury, MD) equaled Neumann's point total with a pair of goals and one assist. The Lyons will travel to Danbury, Connecticut, Friday night to face Western Connecticut State University in a non-league game at 7:00 p.m. Friday's game marks Wheaton's third straight road contest.
