Wheaton earns second straight win with 19-6 decision at Clark to finish season

WORCESTER, MA- The Wheaton College men's lacrosse team used a balanced scoring attack to collect its second consecutive win Wednesday night, as the Lyons cruised past host Clark University, 19-6 in Pilgrim League action. Wheaton finishes its season with an overall record of 6-7 and a Pilgrim League mark of 3-5, while the Cougars remain winless in league play at 0-7 with a 4-10 record overall.

Tonight's outcome was decided early, as the Lyons amassed seven goals in the opening period and five more tallies in the second quarter to capture a commanding 12-2 advantage at the intermission. The hosts stayed even with Wheaton in the third period to trail 16-6 heading into the fourth, but the Lyons held the Cougars scoreless the rest of the way en route to the 13-goal victory.

Junior captain Ellis Reavey (Longmeadow, MA/Longmeadow) paced Wheaton with four goals, while senior captain Trevor Ogden (New Canaan, CT/The Gunnery School) and junior Adam Cohen (Montpelier, VT/Montpelier) accounted for three tallies each. Junior captain Taylor Jackson (Middlesex, VT/Union 32) contributed two goals and one assist, while sophomore Markus Ricci (Wayland, MA/Wayland) and senior Rory Browne (Pittsburgh, PA/Sewickley Academy) added two goals and a pair of assists, respectively, in the win.

For Clark, freshman Andrew Webber (Allendale, Northern Highlands Regional) posted three goals and one assist. First-year athletes Jon Ponte (Arlington, MA/Arlington) and Nate Sherman (Pittsburgh, PA/Winchester Thurston School) had one goal and one assist apiece, while junior Michael Myers (South Hamilton, MA/Hamilton-Wenham Regional) dished out two assists.

Wheaton freshman goalkeeper Jeremy Beech (West Newbury, MA/Governor Dummer) made the most of his first career start, making six stops in the victory, while junior goalie Alan Green (Bloomfield Hills, MI/Detroit Country Day School) posted nine saves in net for the Cougars.
