Lyons post season-high 24 goals in 24-5 league triumph over NorwichApril 23, 2005 NORTON, MA- Junior Adam Cohen (Montpelier, VT/Montpelier) scored six goals and freshman Richie Rasamny (Redding, CT/Joel Barlow) added seven assists to lead the Wheaton College men's lacrosse team to a season-high 24 goals and 24-5 Pilgrim League triumph over Norwich University Saturday afternoon at Mirrione Stadium. The Lyons improve to 5-7 on the season and 2-5 in league play, while the Cadets slip to 4-7 and 1-5. The majority of the game's scoring for both teams took place in the opening period, with Wheaton capturing a 9-4 advantage. Other than a harmless second-quarter goal, the Lyons held the Cadets scoreless for the entire second half, as Wheaton held a commanding 15-5 lead at the break and an 18-5 cushion at the end of three quarters. An impressive 13 Lyon players figured in today's scoring, with Cohen and Rasamny leading the charge with seven points apiece. Junior Taylor Jackson (Middlesex, VT/Union 32) posted four goals in the win, while senior captain Trevor Ogden (New Canaan, CT/The Gunnery School), senior Rory Browne (Pittsburgh, PA/Sewickley Academy), sophomores Trey Helms (Cockeysville, MD/St. Paul's School) and Markus Ricci (Wayland, MA/Wayland) and first-year Ted Maturo (Madison, CT/Daniel Hand) tallied two goals each. Cohen, Jackson and Ogden distributed two assists apiece for the Lyons, while junior captain Ellis Reavey (Longmeadow, MA/Longmeadow), sophomores Andrew Rohan (South Hadley, MA/Avon Old Farms) and Tristan Colglazier (Lutherville, MD/St. Paul's School) and freshman Sean Agoliati (Poughkeepsie, NY/Loomis-Chaffee School) rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece. For Norwich, freshman Jon Hayes (Waltham, MA/Waltham) accounted for a team-best three goals. Sophomore goalkeeper Nick Jones (Hamden, CT/Hamden) and freshman Jeremy Beech (West Newbury, MA/Governor Dummer) split time in net to combine for 10 stops, while the Cadets used sophomore starter Jeff Thomas (Colorado Springs, CO/Roy J. Wasson) and junior reserve Andrew Manberg (Bow, NH/Bow), as the tandem were credited with 13 saves in the setback.
