Wheaton finishes four-game homestand with 7-4 league loss to LasellApril 16, 2005 NORTON, MA- The Wheaton College men's lacrosse team finished its four-game homestand on a down note Saturday afternoon, as the Lyons dropped a 7-4 decision to Lasell College in a Pilgrim League contest at Mirrione Stadium. Wheaton falters to 4-6 on the season and 1-4 in league play, while the Lasers, winners in seven of their last eight games, improve to 8-2 overall and 3-1 in the Pilgrim. Wheaton junior captain Ellis Reavey (Longmeadow, MA/Longmeadow) put the hosts on the board with 9:49 to go in the opening period. Lasell scored the game's next two goals to capture a 2-1 edge with 5:55 to play, but Wheaton senior captain Trevor Ogden (New Canaan, CT/The Gunnery School) knotted the contest two minutes later for a 2-2 tie at the end of the quarter. Lasell junior Louis Lucchetti (Newton, MA) scored the only goal of the second period, giving the Lasers a slim 3-2 lead at the break. The visitors extended their edge to 5-3 at the end of the third and eventually to 7-3 with 3:41 remaining. Sophomore Dan Winter (Floral Park, NY) scored Lasell's sixth goal and assisted on the seventh to help put the game out of reach. Reavey made it a three-goal margin with under two minutes to play, but it proved to be too little too late. Reavey finished the contest with the two goals, while Lasell junior Kyle Minaker (Newton, MA) and sophomore Al Zayac (West Springfield, MA) registered two tallies each. Freshman David Bulhoes (Billerica, MA) had one goal and one assist in the victory. Wheaton sophomore goalie Nick Jones (Hamden, CT/Hamden) picked up 12 saves, while Laser first-year goalie Mark DeMieri (Seaford, NY) turned in a solid performance with 23 stops.
