Leith earns second ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District selection

NORTON, MA- Wheaton College senior standout Kendra Leith (Holden, MA/Wachusett Regional) has earned the second ESPN The Magazine Academic College Division All-District I selection of her career, receiving a spot on the first team for the first time.

A cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field captain during her career, Leith is now eligible for Academic All-America status. The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) are responsible for Academic All-District and All-America selections.

The school-record-holder in the 5,000-meter run for both indoor and outdoor track and field, Leith posted a 3.92 cumulative grade point average while graduating last month with a degree in economics. A three-time New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Academic All-Conference qualifier in each cross country and outdoor track and field, Leith picked up her first NEWMAC All-Conference finish in track this spring after twice earning the honor in cross country.

Leith, who also helped set Wheaton's indoor distance medley relay record this past winter, has garnered a number of individual honors during her career. For each of her four years, she was among the Wheaton Dean's Top Ten, on the Dean's List, and was chosen as a Trustee Scholar, Presidential Scholar and Scholar-Athlete. A member of the Phi Beta Kappa and Omicron Delta Epsilon honor societies, Leith was Wheaton's nominee for the Eastern College Athletic Conference's (ECAC) Robbins Scholar-Athlete Award.

The District I College Division consists of all non-NCAA Division I colleges and universities in the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont, and the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Quebec.

To be nominated for the Academic-All America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in academic standing, possess at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or significant reserve.
