March 11, 2005

BLOOMINGTON, IL- The Wheaton College women's indoor track and field team's 4x400-meter relay squad solidified its place in tomorrow's finals at the NCAA Division III Championship held at Illinois Wesleyan University.

Winners in five of the last seven relay national championships, the Lyons are guaranteed All-America status at Saturday night's finals at 6:05 p.m. The Wheaton foursome posted the fifth-fastest time in today's preliminaries.

Senior captains Kathrine Wallace (Glenmoore, PA/The Hill School) and Jessica Allegra (East Hampton, CT/East Hampton) and first-year athletes Julie McLane (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) and Chelsea Nader (Ardmore, PA/Lower Menan) finished the event in a time of 3:56.57.

In addition to Wheaton's 4x400M relay, the Lyons will have a pair of high jumpers in action this afternoon. Wallace, who enters the event ranked second on the entry list, and sophomore Jennifer Harlow (East Bridgewater, MA/East Bridgewater) are slated to begin competition at 1:30 p.m.
