Woman harriers take third at Keene State Invitational, men finish ninthSeptember 29, 2007 KEENE, NH- The Wheaton College men's and women's cross country teams returned to action Saturday following a two-week hiatus, competing at the Keene State College Invitational. The women placed third out of nine teams with 82 points, while the men took ninth in a 10-team field with 234 points. Host Keene captured both team championships. Senior All-American Megan Brousseau (Attleboro, MA/Attleboro) highlighted the Lyon performances by taking third overall and second among collegians, as she covered the 5,000-meter course in a time of 19:05. Sophomore Katie Pratt (Litchfield, CT/Litchfield) took 11th in 20:28, while freshman Ekaterina Gould (Wayland, MA/Wayland) placed 16th in 20:48 in her collegiate debut. First-year Erin Jaske (Highlands Ranch, CO/Rock Canyon) took 27th, classmate Christina Nelson (Cranston, RI/Saint Mary Academy-Bay View) was 37th, freshman Ariel Perry (Sweden, ME/Fryeburg Academy) placed 42nd and senior Jessie Buonaccorsi (Shutesbury, MA/Amherst Regional) was 44th. Freshmen Nick Kacher (Waltham, MA/Waltham), Natan Levy (Fort Lauderdale, FL/Pine Crest School) and Brandon Waltz (South Thomaston, ME/Rockland District) finished 1-2-3 for the men for the second time in three meets. The trio completed the five-mile race in 47th, 59th and 71st overall, respectively. Junior Scott Hafferkamp (Merrimack, NH/Merrimack) was two seconds behind Waltz. The Lyons head into Boston next Saturday for the All New England Championship in Franklin Park.
