Brousseau tabbed NEWMAC Women's Runner of the Week

September 17, 2007

NORTON, MA- Wheaton College women's cross country standout Megan Brousseau (Attleboro, MA/Attleboro) was tabbed New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Runner of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, September 16.

Earning the first weekly honor of her career and the first by a Lyon since the 2004 season, the three-time NEWMAC All-Conference runner placed 12th among 222 runners on Saturday at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth Invitational, finishing the 5,000-meter course in 18:50. She was just two seconds shy of the top 10.

Leading Wheaton to an 11th-place finish among 29 teams, including six conference squads, Brousseau was the fastest finisher out of the 57 competitors from NEWMAC institutions. Saturday marked her first race since competing at the 2006 NCAA Championship.

Brousseau and the Lyons return to action on Saturday, September 29, when they travel to Keene, New Hampshire, to take part in the Keene State College Invitational.
