Brousseau represents Wheaton for second time in three years at NCAA Division III cross country championshipNovember 18, 2006 WEST CHESTER, OHIO- Junior Megan Brousseau (Attleboro, MA/Attleboro) represented the Wheaton College women's cross country team at the NCAA Division III Championship for the second time in three seasons, finishing 195th on Saturday at Voice of America Park. Brousseau, who as a freshman became the second female runner in program history to earn All-America honors, completed the 6,000-meter course in a time of 25:54 on Saturday. She joined Lisa Baron '87 as the only other Lyon to take part in two national meets, as Baron did so in 1984 and 1986. Brousseau earned an NCAA Championship berth after her 11th-place showing last weekend at the New England regional meet. Her runner-up finish at the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship on October 28 elevated the Lyons into fifth place, but just 18 points out of second. In order to be eligible to participate in the championship, teams and individuals must qualify in their respective NCAA regions. Fifty-six individuals were selected to participate in the championship, in addition to competitors from 32 teams. Each region's top two teams earn an automatic qualification, while 16 additional squads earn at-large bids. This page is maintained by Scott Dietz. Last updated on 2/15/07. |
