Five Lyons place in top 10 during Keene State Invitational

KEENE, NH- Five Wheaton College runners recorded top-10 finishes as the Lyons' men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Keene State College Invitational on Saturday. The women placed second out of four teams with 40 points, placing behind only host Keene State and its 25 points, while the Blue and White men were fourth out of five with 119 points. The Owls won the men's race with 33 points.

Junior Megan Brousseau (Attleboro, MA/Attleboro) had the Lyons' top placement for the third straight meet with a fourth-place finish in a time of 19:17. Sophomore Amanda Rawson (Dudley, MA/Shepherd Hill Regional), senior captain Jennifer Ziello (Litchfield, CT/Litchfield) and sophomore Lily Calderwood (Harvard, MA/Bromfield School) held down the seventh through ninth spots in times of 20:02, 20:04 and 20:14, respectively. Junior Abbe Bosk (Narberth, PA/Springside) came in 12th at 20:36, while freshman Katie Pratt (Litchfield, CT/Litchfield) finished 14th in 20:39.

For the men, junior Pat Benson (Foxboro, MA/Bishop Feehan) turned in Wheaton's top time for the third consecutive meet, as he placed eighth in 26:58. Senior captain Matt Peirce (Lincoln, MA/Lincoln-Sudbury Regional) was next for the Lyons with a time of 28:35, while freshman Andrew Brunhofer (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) completed the course in 30:26 for the second straight outing.

The Lyons take part in the All New England Championship next Saturday at Franklin Park in Boston.
