Wheaton travels to Keene State Invitational, Rawson places 12th for women

KEENE, NH- The Wheaton College women's cross country team finished fifth and the men placed seventh at the Keene State Invitational on Saturday. The Lyon women scored 100 points and the men tallied 214 during the race. Division I Dartmouth College topped the seven-team field on the women's side with 41 points, while host Keene State College recorded the best point total among the nine men's teams with 31.

A trio of freshmen recorded the Wheaton women's top finishes, as Amanda Rawson (Dudley, MA/Shepherd Hill Regional) came in 12th at 20:10, Megan O'Sadnick (Evergreen, CO/Evergreen) was 17th in a time of 20:24 and Lily Calderwood (Harvard, MA/Bromfield School) placed 20th in 20:38. Sophomore Abbe Bosk (Narberth, PA/Springside), who is also in her first year of college competition, was two seconds behind Calderwood in 21st place with a time of 20:40.

Rounding out Wheaton's finishers were junior Jennifer Ziello (Litchfield, CT/Litchfield) in 32nd, freshman Lauren Reddy (Walnut Creek, CA/Carondelet) at 36th and sophomore Jessie Buonaccorsi (Shutesbury, MA/Amherst Regional) in 50th.

On the men's side, sophomore Pat Benson (Foxboro, MA/Bishop Feehan) had Wheaton's best showing with a 30th-place finish in a time of 28:04. Junior Matt Peirce (Lincoln, MA/Lincoln-Sudbury Regional) came in 45th at 29:00, while senior Ben Haber (Lincoln, MA/Lincoln-Sudbury Regional) broke the 30-minute mark by 46 seconds and placed 50th.

Freshmen Scott Hafferkamp (Merrimack, NH/Merrimack), Blair Rossetti (Plymouth, MA/Plymouth North), Scott Clark (East Longmeadow, MA/East Longmeadow) and Dan Libon (Foxboro, MA/Foxboro) placed 68th, 76th, 77th and 85th, respectively.

The Lyons' teams will compete for the third successive weekend next Saturday in Boston's Franklin Park, as the men's and women's squads gear up for the All New England Championship meet.
