O'Brien earns NEWMAC Women's Runner-of-the-Week honors

NORTON, MA- Wheaton College women's cross country standout Erin O'Brien (North Easton, MA/Oliver Ames) earned New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Runner-of-the-Week honors for the week ending on Sunday, October 10.

O'Brien, a two-time member of the NEWMAC All-Conference team and 2001 NEWMAC Rookie of the Year, was Wheaton's top finisher at last weekend's All-New England Championship, leading the Lyons to a 22nd-place team standing at Boston's Franklin Park. Finishing 53rd overall among 302 competitors, O'Brien covered the 5,000-meter course in 19:04.

The Lyons next meet will take place in Cumberland, Maine, as the Blue and White get set to compete at the Twin Brook Invitational II on Saturday, October 16.
