Pyle leads men's cross country at Twin Brook Invitational II; Men place fourth and women finish sixth overall

CUMBERLAND, ME- The Wheaton College men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Twin Brook Invitational II Saturday afternoon at the Twin Brook Recreation Center. The men placed fourth in the 12-team field with 130 points, trailing Tufts, MIT and Connecticut College and ahead of New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) schools Coast Guard, Springfield and Babson. On the women's side, the Lyons finished sixth overall among 13 competing teams with 168 points. Wheaton placed second among conference schools, trailing MIT and ahead of Coast Guard, Springfield and Babson.

Junior Stan Pyle (S. Portland, ME/S. Portland) was impressive for the Wheaton men, as he captured his second individual title of the season. Placing first among 156 runners, Pyle covered the 8,000-meter course in 26:22, 40 seconds faster than the next closest competitor. Senior Terry Panetta (Hicksville, NY/St. Anthony's) placed ninth in 27:20, while sophomore Eric Richardson (East Walpole, MA/Bishop Feehan) was 40th in 28:19 and junior Joe Chadwick (Shelburne Falls, MA/Mohawk Trail Regional) in 51st in 28:40.

The women had two runners finish among the top 17 competitors, including freshman Jonatta Moore (Staten Island, NY/Curtis) and sophomore Kendra Leith (Holden, MA/Wachusett Regional). Moore placed 13th overall in 23:36, while Leith wasn't far behind in 17th place at 23:42. Rounding out Wheaton's top runners was sophomore Christina Langevin (Wilbraham, MA/Minnechaug Regional) in 36th in 24:49 and junior Emily Doenges (Milford, CT/St. Joseph) in 44th with a time of 25:09.
