Cahalane and O'Brien lead Wheaton cross country to fourth-place finishes at Hayseed ClassicSeptember 7, 2002 GRAFTON, MA- Junior Peter Cahalane (North Andover, MA/St. John's Prep) and sophomore Erin O'Brien (North Easton, MA/Oliver Ames) led the Wheaton College men's and women's cross country teams to a pair of fourth-place finishes at the Hayseed Classic Saturday afternoon at Tufts University. Bentley and host Tufts took the top two places for both the men's and women's races. Wheaton's women's team posted 90 points overall, while the men tallied 115 total points. Cahalane finished the 8,000-meter run fourth overall in a time of 27:28. O'Brien also placed fourth in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 20:07. The Wheaton women placed five runners in the top 27 positions. Following O'Brien was classmate Lindsay Whalen (Dedham, MA/Dedham) in 21:08, first-year Christina Langevin (Wilbraham, MA/Minnechaug Regional) in 21:28 and sophomores Lindsey Degon (Palmer, MA/Palmer) and Emily Doenges (Milford, CT/Saint Joseph) in 21:31 and 21:53, respectively. On the men‚s side, sophomore Joe Chadwick (Shelburne Falls, MA/Mohawk Trail Regional) posted a 20th-place finish in a time of 28:51. Rounding out Wheaton's top five athletes included junior Brannin Buehner (Lubec, ME/Lubec) in 29:46, junior Brian Donoghue (Holyoke, MA/Holyoke Catholic) in 30:16 and first-year Eric Richardson (East Walpole, MA/Bishop Feehan) in 30:21.
