Wheaton Athletic Mentors

The Wheaton Athletic Mentors (WAMs), which is the school's student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC), are a select group of student-athletes who provide a forum for the student-athletes and to serve as a liaison between the student-athletes and administration at the academic and athletic levels. The WAMs design and implement programs to encourage academic achievement, health promotion and social responsibility to enhance the student-athlete experience.

The Big Event

Every February, the WAMs sponsor a series of activities over two days (Friday & Saturday) promoting alcohol-free fun for the Wheaton community.

In 2008, the Big Event consisted of a wiffle-ball tournament in Emerson Gymnasium, comedian Joel Chasnoff in Cole Memorial Chapel, and an open-mic session with late-night breakfast in Chase Round Dining Hall on Friday. The Big Event Carnival in Beard Field House took place on Saturday evening.
