First rate pedagogy has a good fit with carefully considered political engagement. In November 2012, Professor Kerner and the students in her methods class demonstrated that the knowledge gleaned from Anthropology can be used to encourage transformation.
As quoted in a recent Wheaton Wire article, Professor Kerner "challenged the class to come up with something tangible that they could do in the shor run that would renew our sense of unity and shared purpose as an academic community."
The class developed a Facebook based campaign entitled "We are Wheaton. We are Equal." This campaign is featured as part of the Boston Globe coverage on the college's reaction to antisemitic graffiti.
