Congratulations to our Wheaton Foundation Grants Awardees!

This year three Anthropology majors were awarded Wheaton Foundation grants to pursue scholarly and creative work outside the expectations of their courses.
With the support of the Wheaton Foundation, Savannah Geasey interned at the Boston NGO called Strong Women Strong Girls throughout the Fall 2010 semester. Here, she has been examining the construction of purpose and personal identity among non-profit employees.
Jessica Karevivius was funded to continue her research at St. James Armenian Apostolic Church in
Watertown, MA. Over the course of the Fall 2010 semester, she has worked at the church and its Sunday school to study the relationships between religion and culture and identity among Armenian-American adolescents.
Wheaton Foundation funds are also supporting Michelle Van Akin in volunteering as a mentor for a refugee family from Ethiopia in Providence, RI. Each week in the Fall of 2010 she has driven to Providence, RI to spend time with her family and learn about the refugee settlement process in the area.
Congratulations to all!
