Graduate and professional school timeline

Consult with Dean Alex Trayford, in the Advising Center or Dean Dan Golden in the Filene Center. Keep an eye out for Sophomore and Junior Year Workshops designed to help you with the application process.

Seniors:

• Finish prep classes for and take appropriate application tests (e.g., Graduate Record Exam; General Management Admissions Test, Law School Admissions Test);
• Get as much feedback as possible on your application essay;
• Meet all application deadlines;
• Double-check with your references that letters have been sent;
• Talk with graduate students at your top choice schools about their experience

Seniors who plan to defer applications:

• Talk with potential references about letters;
• Begin prep for GREs, GMATs, LSATs (consider taking these exams early this summer)

Juniors:

• Begin identifying graduate programs - write for information;
• Formulate plans with your faculty for your senior work (e.g., theses, special projects, independent study, expositions);
• Begin prep for graduate exams- see times for Wheaton prep classes;
• Attend Grad School Colloquia offered by Dean Trayford;
• If Pre-medical, finish prep for and take Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT)

Sophomores:

• Declare your major;
• Identify professional associations in your field and determine if they have student membership;
• Check "Scholarly Societies" Web page: www.lib.uwaterloo.calsociety/overview.html
• Attend your first professional conference in your field
• If Pre-medical, begin prep for Medical College Admissions Test

First Year Students:

• Plan to attend one of the workshops this Spring for grad- school bound new students.
