Building Trades Group
The Building Trades Group Consists of three shops that are responsible for maintenance and repair of all the architectural aspects of building maintenance campus-wide. The shops included in this group are the Carpenters, Painters and Locksmith.
The Carpenter Shop has a staff of four: Shop Foreman Jeff Dalrymple and three tradesmen, Chris Chaves, Mike Yelle and Chris Robbins. Their primary responsibility consists of the repair and maintenance of all buildings campus wide. Their tasks and projects vary widely and range from screening repairs, to roofing, to glazing, to renovations and repair projects. They address, on the average, 1,480 Service Orders annually. Their peak month for Service Order activity is August when they receive about 189. The shop also routinely supports campus events.
The Paint Shop has a staff of two: Shop Foreman Mark Flanagan Sr. and tradesman Joe Chaves. As you would guess, the primary responsibility of this shop encompasses all of the campus painting and finishing requirements. They are primarily kept busy with the inside work, but they also tackle exterior projects as required. They address, on the average, 1080 Service Orders annually. Their peak month for Service Order activity is June when they receive about 321. During the Summer and Winter breaks they enlist the help of several students to tackle some of the time-consuming project work that the shop faces each year.
The Locksmith Shop is staffed with a single tradesperson, Tim Santos. Tim's responsibility centers around maintaining and repairing all doors and their hardware on the campus. Tim works with the Physical Plant Office to manage the issuing of keys and the control of the door locks. This task is especially important with regard to the support of security of 1500 students. His busiest times are around commencement and the Winter break as students are leaving or returning to the campus. The average number of Service order calls that Tim sees in a year is about 700.
