Ulmus pumila photographed during the winter. Tree authority Michael Dirr has written that because of its tendancy to lose limbs this species is "a poor ornamental tree that does not deserve to be planted anywhere!" Perhaps he has never seen Wheaton's beautiful Siberian Elm.
