Furnishings

The College provides each student with a bed, mattress, chair, desk, dresser, and closet space. Rooms are also equipped with phone service and computer links to the Wheaton network. Each window is covered by blinds and/or a shade. Students provide bedding and other personal furnishings. Students are encouraged to discuss the furnishing of their room with their roommate(s). Students are prohibited from removing college furniture from their rooms for any reason.

Please note the following regulations:

Items may not be screwed, nailed, bolted or glued to the walls or woodwork in the residence halls or the houses.

State regulations require any residence hall curtains or draperies to be of fiberglass or other non-combustible material and that upholstered furniture is flame-retardant.

Appliances such as hot plates, immersion heaters, electric space heaters, air conditioners or any appliances with open heating elements are not permitted. Cooking in student rooms is prohibited.

Irons may only be used in laundry rooms.

Waterbeds, microwave ovens and halogen lamps are prohibited.

Limited personal appliances such as stereo equipment, electric blankets and hair dryers are permitted, though care should be taken not to overload outlets. Air conditioners are strictly prohibited.
