Social Responsibility
Social Responsibility is Wheaton shorthand for civic engagement, specifically informed political activism.

But what does that mean?
SSSR encourages and supports passionate and informed political activism, creative approaches to social justice work, and respectful bi-partisan dialogue on issues of importance to our community, country and world through speakers, dialogues, film, art and spoken word events, and other programs.
Like what? The Oxfam Hunger Banquet, residencies by Charles Neblett of the SNCC Freedom Singer, and Indian dancer, dramatist and activist Malika Sarabhai, the Clothesline Project, an annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Interfaith Service, and Coming Out Week Solidarity Vigil.
This fall--naturally--SSSR will be focusing on Election 2008. Have you registered and/or requested your absentee ballot yet?
