Technology-Equipped Collaboration Rooms
Three technology-equipped collaboration rooms are located in the Stacks Level of the Library, across from the Stacks Level Electronic Classroom. These rooms are ideal for groups of 2-5 who need to collaborate on computer work or presentations using the installed computer or a laptop. Rooms 1 and 2 are equipped with a whiteboard and blackboard. Rooms can be used to develop or practice classroom presentations, using a large wall-mounted LCD monitor equipped with speakers. Room 3 may be used for iMovie '08 video work. All standard software applications and several specialty academic software applications are available in these rooms. A fourth technology-equipped collaboration room is located on the Periodicals Level of the Library in the old Seminar Room near the Archive Storage Area. This room is ideal for groups of 5-10 who need to collaborate on computer work or presentations using the installed computer or a laptop. This room contains a wide screen cable TV/monitor with DVD, VCR, and Media Player capabilities. All standard software applications are available. Reservation ProceduresFor course-related collaborative work, Collaboration Rooms 1, 2, 3, and 4 are reservable up to two weeks in advance for time periods up to three hours by visiting or calling the Circulation Desk (x8224). In case of "no-shows" the room will be held for 10 minutes before the reservation is forfeited and the room is made available to other users. When not reserved in advance, users can request access to the room when it is available. Go to the Circulation Desk or the PSA at the Information desk to view room availability. Equipment and Software
Collaboration Rooms 1, 2, and 3 seat up to 5 comfortably (max. capacity is 7). In Rooms 1 and 2 participants can use the installed Windows XP computer and wall-mounted 32" LCD monitor for collaborative computing work and development of presentations. Alternatively, users may bring their own laptops to connect to the 32" monitor using the VGA cable provided. Wireless is available as well as an Internet port. In Room 3 participants can use the installed Mac G5 tower computer and wall-mounted 30" LCD monitor for collaborative computing work and development of presentations. Each room includes a whiteboard, blackboard, and bulletin bars for posting materials. A printer and photocopier are nearby in the Stacks Stair Tower. The rooms are handicapped accessible. Collaboration Room 4 on the Periodicals Level is ideal for groups of 5-10 who need to collaborate on computer work or presentations using the installed computer or a laptop. This room contains a wide screen cable TV/monitor with DVD, VCR, and Media Player capabilities. The remote control for using the equipment in this room must be checked out at the Circulation Desk.
