Academic Computing is responsible for the evaluation, acquisition, licensing, monitoring and updating of software important to the educational program of the College. It is also responsible for the distribution and support of that software.
The College licenses software under various schemes. For example:
Keyserved software is downloaded from the network, to be used while connected to the network.
Fully-licensed software can be loaded onto college-owned machines or home machines.
Restricted software must be loaded with physical media and licenses are counted.
Software that is course-related can be
installed by staff from Academic Computing. Faculty who need installation of this type should contact Jenni Lund x3927 for assistance.
Any faculty member who thinks a course-related software for home use is necessary should contact one of the professional
members of the staff of Academic Computing.
Wheaton does not provide productivity software for home computers (e.g., word processing or spreadsheets).
