Wheaton's Davis International Fellowship
The Davis International Fellowship offers summer grants to students for international work, including internships, service experiences, or overseas structured independent research. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA and a well-designed international program. This fellowship is open to sophomores and juniors only. This fellowship is worth $5,000.

Wheaton Fellows
The Wheaton Fellow Program grants stipends to students to pursue projects of their own creation on or off campus over the summer. Qualifying projects may include: unpaid internships, community service, research in which the students is the primary designer of a project which has an informal faculty sponsor, or other self-initiated research leading to or as part of an independent study course. This fellowship is open to freshmen, sophomores, and juniors in good social and academic standing.

The Beinecke Scholarship
The Beinecke Scholarship is given to 18 students with superior standards of intellectual ability, scholastic achievement and personal promise his or her undergraduate career. Applicants must be juniors who plan on entering master's or doctoral programs in the arts, humanities or social sciences. Students must have a documented history of need-based financial aid/ along with the application, students must submit a resume, a personal statement, a copy of official transcript, and four letters of recommendation. This scholarship is worth up to $32,000. Wheaton is only allowed to nominate one student. Wheaton's last recipient was Guy Foster '95 who used his Beinecke for graduate study of English at Brown University.

Crane-Rogers Foundation: Institute of Current World Affairs Fellowships
Supports overseas study in the broad area of "current world affairs" for individuals under the age of 36, to assist in developing a deep understanding of an issue, country or region outside the United States and to share that understanding with the English-speaking public. The Fulbright Scholarship
The Fulbright Scholarship is designed to give recent B.S./B.A. graduate, masters and doctoral candidates, and young professionals and artists opportunities for personal development and international experience. Students can apply to study, do independent research, or teach English abroad. The program promotes cross-cultural interaction and mutual understanding through engagement in the community and on a person-to-person basis in an atmosphere of openness, academic integrity, and intellectual freedom. Wheaton's last recipients designed their own international programs many of which include university coursework, special projects, fieldwork, etc. This year's winners were Josh Purvis '06(Slovakia), Zoe Lees '06 (Malaysia), Jeremy Berger '06(Germany), Stephen Wulff '06 (Korea), Lesley Dean '05 (Germany). Students must be nominated by the college.

The Goldwater Scholarship
The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program was established by Congress in 1986 to honor Senator Barry M. Goldwater. The purpose of the Foundation is to provide a continuing source of highly qualified scientists, mathematicians, and engineers by awarding scholarships to college students (sophomores and juniors) who intend to pursue careers in these fields. Wheaton's last recipient was Jessica Krick '99 who is completing her doctorate in Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Michigan.

The Marshall Scholarship
The Marshall Scholarship is awarded to young Americans of high ability to study for a degree in the United Kingdom. At least forty scholarships are awarded annually to talented, well-rounded students interested in studying in the UK in any field of study. Students must have a minimum 3.7 GPA to apply. Students must be nominated by their respective colleges. Rebecca Chamberlain '01 won a Marshall Scholarship to study at the School for Slavonic and East European Studies at University College London.

The Rhodes Scholarship
This prestigious international scholarship is designed to bring outstanding students to the University of Oxford. Nominees must display extraordinary intellectual distinction. Applicants must provide a sufficient basis for their proposed field of study. Each year, 32 American scholars are selected. All educational costs are covered by the Rhodes Trustees. Alex Dewar '06 is Wheaton's third scholar in five years. He hopes to further his passion for conservation with advanced work in environmental change.

The Rotary Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to undergraduate and graduate students who plan on studying abroad. During their time abroad, students will serve as goodwill ambassadors. This scholarship aims to further social and cultural ties. It also aims at fostering international understanding and friendly relations among people of different countries. There are four kinds of Rotary Scholarships: the Ambassadorial Scholarship, the Multi-Year Ambassadorial Scholarship, the Cultural Ambassadorial Scholarship, and the Rotary World Peace Scholarship. Wheaton winners include in the past two years have been: Brittany Krupica '06 (England), Fred Marcks '02 (Scotland), and Cathy Brown '97 (Japan).

The Truman Scholarship
The Truman Scholarship is awarded to juniors interested in government and/or other aspects of public service. Truman nominees should have an extensive record of public service and community service and have an outstanding leadership potential and communication skills. 70-75 scholarships for up to $30,000 are awarded annually to each scholarship recipient. Like the Udall and many other scholarships, students must be nominated by their respective colleges. Wheaton¡Ùs most recent recipients have been Fred Marcks '01, Adar Cohen '04, and Jared Duval '05. The deadline is February 5, 2005.

The Udall Scholarship
Named in honor of Congressman Morris King Udall, this scholarship is designed for undergraduates (sophomores and juniors) with the commitment and potential to make significant contributions to the fields of the environment, tribal health or tribal governance. Students must submit three letters of recommendation, official transcript and a well-written 800word essay discussing a significant public speech, legislative act, or public policy statement by Congressman Udall and its impact on the nominee's fields of interest and career goals. Students must be nominated by their respective colleges candidates must be U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents. Eighty scholarships of up to $5,000 are awarded annually. Wheaton's recipients are David Giuliani '01, Jared Duval '05 (twice), and Alex Dewar '06. The deadline is March 2007.

The Watson Fellowship
The Watson fellowship is a one year grant for independent study and travel outside the United States awarded to graduating undergraduates.This fellowship is worth $25,000. Watson Fellows must create, execute, and evaluate their own projects. The fellowship supports 12 months of fieldwork and/or research. This year's Wheaton recipient, Alexandra Cheney, will study the intersection of surf culture and environmental stewardship. She will study in: Polynesia, Australia, Japan, Costa Rica, Brazil and South Africa. Students must be endorsed by their respective colleges.
