Men's and Women's Track and Field Athletes Compete at All New England Championship

The Wheaton College men's and women's track and field teams continued to prepare for the NCAA Championship, as Lyon athletes competed in 11 events over the weekend at the All New England Championship, which came to an end on Saturday at the University of New Hampshire. At the event, which was attended by regional squads from all three NCAA divisions, the Blue and White women were 20th out of 32 scoring teams, while the men tied for 37th. Junior Chizoba Ezeigwe (Brockton, MA/Thayer Academy) had Wheaton's top showing, placing second in the 200-meter dash in 24.55, reaching an automatic standard for the NCAA Championship. The Lyon 4x400M relay team also scored, provisionally qualifying for the national championship by placing sixth in 3:54.01. The quartet, which was comprised of Ezeigwe, classmates Natana Jules (Brooklyn, NY/Boys and Girls) and Christine Moreau (Lincoln, RI/Lincoln) and sophomore Kelly Libert (New Haven, CT/James Hillhouse), was second among Division III teams. Senior Megan Brousseau (Attleboro, MA/Attleboro) was 1.14 seconds shy of NCAA provisional qualification in the 1,500M and 1.37 ticks short of a six-year-old school record at 4:41.14. For the men, sophomore Merzudin Ibric (Revere, MA/Phillips Academy) turned in a fourth-place showing in the 400M trials before scoring during the final round, placing eighth.
