Refund Policy and Tuition Refund Plan

Since Wheaton's Refund Policy provides only limited refunds for tuition, board and fees, it is recommended that consideration be given to purchasing the Tuition Refund Plan. The Tuition Refund Plan minimizes financial loss in the event that your son/daughter is unable to complete the academic term for medical reasons. The Plan covers tuition, student activity fee, room and board charged by Wheaton for the period of attendance. Medical leaves based on psychological conditions are paid at 60% of incurred charges, all other qualifying medical conditions are paid at 100%. All students enrolled for the fall term will be charged $198.00 for enrollment in the Tuition Refund Plan. If you choose to decline the coverage a waiver form is available here. It should be completed and returned to Student Financial Services by September 1.

Important Information For Recipients of Federal Financial Aid

Federal regulations require that the college recalculate a student's eligibility for financial aid if they leave the college without completing the term. Based on the percent of the term completed, the college is required to return funds to the federal student aid programs. In addition, the college prorates any institutional funding received.

This reduction in financial aid eligibility often creates a balance due to the college. For this reason, we strongly recommend that any student considering a mid-semester leave contact the Office of Student Financial Services to discuss the financial impact of their decision with a counselor.
