Credit Balance Policy
Current Students
Wheaton College will maintain and apply credit balances for continuing students to future charges. You may request a refund of a credit balance by submitting a written request to Student Financial Services. Credit balances that are the result of a monthly payment plan contract with TMS will not be refunded until the plan is paid in full. We would be glad to work with you to adjust your plan amount to eliminate the credit balance and reduce your monthly payment(s).
Title IV Federal Financial Aid Exception
(i.e. PLUS, Stafford, Perkins loans)
In the case of a credit balance that is the result of Title IV federal financial aid funds, the college is required to have written authorization to hold any excess funds. If the college does not have authorization on file to use excess Title IV funds for miscellaneous, prior or future charges, the balance must be refunded within 14 days. Title IV funds must be returned even though there are unpaid miscellaneous charges on the account.
