Nancy Evans received her B.A. from Smith College, studied Classics at the University of Zurich, and earned her Ph.D. in Classical Philology from Brown University. She teaches courses in Greek language and literature, and Latin literature; her classes taught in English include courses on classical mythology, the ancient novel, women in antiquity, and religions in the Classical world, including Judaism and early Christianity. Her research is interdisciplinary, encompassing religion, philosophy, and women's studies. She has written on the influence of religious language on Plato and the pre-Socratic philosophers, on the history of the sanctuary of Demeter at Eleusis, and on women and myths of the origins of sacrifice.Last update: 11/14/01
