Recreation and Fitness
Are you looking for a way to compete and have fun without the commitment of a varsity sport? Club sports and intramurals are a great way to stay active and be part of a team. If you’re simply looking to stay in shape and destress, check out the equipment and group classes at our recreation and fitness facilities or take a plunge in our Olympic-size swimming pool. For outdoor enthusiasts, we also have walking and running trails, playing fields, as well as tennis and basketball courts. Plus, you don’t want to miss Wheaton’s Head of the Peacock Regatta on our manmade pond!
Student Activities Fair
Twice a year, at the beginning of each semester, the Office of Student Activities, Involvement and Leadership (SAIL) hosts a student activities fair in partnership with the Student Government Association (SGA). It’s a great way to meet representatives from our clubs and organizations and find out how you can get involved. Be sure to check out Engage@Wheaton for upcoming event information!
Student Government Association
The Student Government Association (SGA) is a group of student leaders who serve as a liaison between students and faculty, staff and the college’s senior leadership. The SGA Executive Board proposes new initiatives, allocates funds for activities and clubs, and oversees a group of sub-committees to improve the overall student experience. Each sub-committee focuses on specific areas ranging from accessibility, sustainability, diversity, equity, inclusion and fostering student engagement and involvement.
Balfour-Hood Campus Center
While 96% of our students live on campus, our commuter students feel very much at home here, too. The Commuter Lounge at Balfour Hood Center, located next to the Atrium (near the mailroom and dance studio) is a great place to hang with friends in between classes. We offer all the comforts of home, from couches and TVs to study spaces with charging spaces and Wi-Fi. You can grab lunch and snacks at the Hood Cafe, work out at the fitness center, access event planning resources in the Club Hub, or check out the evening entertainment in the Atrium and the Lyon’s Den.
