Dean of Students

The Dean of Students Office is the central hub for all campus resources. Our dedicated staff is here to support your academic and personal growth and address any concerns for you or your family. Before you arrive, we encourage you to review our campus policies in our Student Handbook. Throughout your time at Wheaton, we’ll help you navigate any academic, personal or social challenges and be your greatest advocate. Academic Advising

Most colleges have academic advisors to help students choose courses. At Wheaton, we have an entire Personalized Advising Network to help you chart your own course.

  • Your Peer Advisor will help you transition to college life, develop good study habits, and learn to use academic software and tools.
  • Your Student Success Advisor will help you explore different academic paths, answer questions about program requirements, and help you explore your interests.
  • Your Mentored Academic Pathway Advisor is a faculty member who will help you navigate our Compass Curriculum and choose a path that aligns with your goals.
  • Your Major Advisor will ensure you fulfill requirements in your chosen discipline, explore courses outside your major that align with your interests, and help you navigate post-graduate education or career goals.

Accessibility Services

Whether you have a physical or learning disability, psychological diagnosis, or a temporary or chronic medical condition, we set you up for success at Wheaton. As a new student, your first step is scheduling an intake interview with Accessibility Services. We’ll discuss your personal needs and accommodation requests and connect you to additional support services on campus. Campus Safety

Your safety is our top priority. Our self-contained campus is located in Norton, Massachusetts which is ranked among the top 10 safest towns in the U.S. In addition, the Campus Safety Department provides crime prevention, fire safety, emergency medical service, parking and traffic enforcement, and safety educational programs.

Health and Wellness Services

Juggling academics, extracurriculars and a social life can be overwhelming, especially as a new student. That’s why we offer a variety of support services to support your overall well-being. Our health and wellness services prioritize self-care and health education, focusing on the unique challenges you face as a college student.

Our on-campus wellness coordinator is a Registered Nurse who will advocate for your healthcare needs and connect you with the resources you need to thrive. Sturdy Health Primary Care, our on-campus medical partner, provides routine check-ups and care for both short-term and chronic health issues. Our counseling center provides free counseling and a range of psychological support in a safe and confidential environment. Our health and wellness services also include a range of educational workshops and fitness opportunities to help you create a healthy lifestyle.

Housing and Residential Life

Welcome to your new home away from home! Our Residential Life staff is here to help you settle in and navigate your way around campus. All of our first-year residences are nestled together on lower campus which makes it easy to meet other new students. Each living and learning community has a residential advisor. Your RA will help you adjust to living on your own (or with a roommate) and organize fun activities to help you connect with new friends. With more than 96% of students living on campus, there are endless opportunities to engage with our diverse community and create lifelong memories.

Student Financial Services

Your education is an investment in your future. Our goal is to help make that investment affordable and accessible. Our Office of Student Financial Services will work with you to create a personalized financial plan. We will review financing options, answer questions about FAFSA, help you understand your bill, and discuss a payment plan that works best. We’ll also keep you informed about scholarships, grants and student employment opportunities to help supplement your educational expenses.

Transportation

During your time at Wheaton, we encourage you to explore all of the fun things to do in the region. From the beaches in RI to the vibrant cities of Providence and Boston, you’ll enjoy an array of New England sites, bites, shops and experiences. While all first-year students can have cars on campus, there are many eco-friendly ways to travel off campus. For short travel to neighboring towns, you can take the GATRA bus for free with your Wheaton ID. If you’re looking for a longer road trip, you can take the nearby commuter train or a rideshare service. Check out our Transportation page for more information.
