Financial Aid & Merit Scholarships

An investment in your future

We understand a Wheaton College education is a substantial investment. But we want you to know the college is equally invested in making a Wheaton education within reach.

That's why more than 65% of Wheaton students receive some form of financial aid.

Wheaton's generous merit scholarships (worth up to $20,000, renewable annually) recognize students for high academic achievement, regardless of financial need. All freshman candidates are considered for merit based on their application for admission. Merit scholarships are renewable throughout a student's academic career. There are 3 merit scholarship programs:

  • Balfour Scholarships
  • Trustee Scholarships
  • Community and Regional Scholarships

Aid also comes from several federal and state funding sources.

Financial assistance at Wheaton is awarded on the basis of demonstrated need and academic performance. “Need” is determined by the financial information that you and your family provide on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and PROFILE forms. Non-U.S. citizens seeking financial aid must complete the International Student Financial Aid Application, (available later this year). We encourage every student to visit our page that describes the complete application process.  A need-based package may include a merit scholarship, grants, loans or work award.

The Office of Student Financial Services (SFS) provides all the resources you need to plan for this important investment.
